Alex Gilson began working as the Principal Organist at the First Presbyterian Church in Davenport, Iowa this past September. He graduated from the Eastman School of Music in May of 2018 with a Master of Music degree in Organ Performance. His primary teacher was Edoardo Bellotti. In 2016, he graduated with a bachelor's degree in both Organ Performance and Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas in the studio of Dr. Jesse Eschbach. While at UNT he also worked as the Organ Scholar at the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation in Dallas under the direction of Scott Dettra and Graham Schulz. His previous teachers include the late Hugh Thompson, Thomas Schroeder, Dr. Crista Miller and Dr. Timothy Olsen. Alex advocates for the organ and its deserved place in the modern world by concertizing and presenting its theological implications and purposes.
Free parking spaces will be set aside in front of the Murchison Performing Arts Center for patrons attending the performance. Overflow spaces will be available in Lot 26 (Highland Street between Bain Hall and Music Practice South).
