John J. Haynie Tribute Concert: Trumpet

John J.Haynie - (b.1924-d.2014)
Mr. Haynie was Professor Emeritus at the UNT College of Music and taught from 1950 until his retirement in 1990. This evening's concert will pay tribute to Mr. Haynie's legacy and include performances by current trumpet faculty, John Holt and Jason Bergman, as well as guest performances. 

The concert will feature a presentation of Mr. Haynie's performance cornet to UNT.  A large collection of his personal memorabilia will also be presented to the UNT Music Library for their permanent collection.

Featuring guest artist Haiqiong Deng, internationally acclaimed virtuoso on the 21-string Chinese zither (Zheng).

Founded in January 2015, the UNT Chinese Ensemble is the first Chinese music ensemble at a Texas university.  Directed by renowned pipa soloist Yuxin Mei, the ensemble plays in the traditional "Silk Bamboo" style.

Free admission.

The Lyceum Lecture Hall is located in the UNT Union.
